Arrests made over Virginia murder
1 min read

POLICE have made a breakthrough into the murder of Simon Middleton in Virginia in March following the arrests of two men last week.

It came after a 29-year-old Lewiston man handed himself in to the Elizabeth Police Station just hours after police made a public plea for information last Monday.

He was arrested and charged with murder.

Major Crime detectives and STAR group officers descended on a Virginia
property the following morning, when a 44-year-old Virginia man was arrested and charged with murder.

The man had repeatedly professed his innocence through the media in the weeks following the murder before the breakthrough last week.

Both men appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court last Tuesday.

Investigations continue despite the arrests, with police seeking to determine the role of others in the shooting, including a man and a woman.
Seven addresses across Virginia, Lewiston and Andrews Farm were searched in conjunction with the arrests.

Police continue their appeal for information into the murder and ask anyone to come forward if they noticed anybody acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Brady and Leach streets, Virginia, on the evening of Sunday, March 7 or the morning of Monday, March 8.

Police are also seeking dashcam vision of the same area between those dates, including vision of a 1998 Nissan Patrol, South Australian registration WDA- 262, in Phineas Street, Virginia.

The car has a broken rear left tail light.
