Angle Vale roadworks ‘not up to par’

CONCERNED residents in Angle Vale have voiced their frustrations at the condition of the town’s road network, with roadworks under way.

SA Water has been undertaking work along Heaslip Road, while around the corner on Fradd Road, work has also begun.

Crews have been working on Heaslip Road for about six months , installing a main sewer line.

Playford Councillor Clint Marsh has been vocal about the standard of work, dubbing Heaslip Road the “Strezlecki Track of Angle Vale”.

He said that the quality of work around bitumen reinstatement was lacking, resulting in differing levels and smoothness of the road.

“I think being due to being the northern area, the standard of the reinstatement by contractors is well below the expectation of the community out here,” he said.

“I am not happy with the level of condition and quality of workmanship by the contractors of the reinstatement.”

Resident Graham Mills said he was frustrated with the “constant rework” being done along Heaslip Road.

“We have got very poor drainage through here, they have dug the road up to put the sewer through but did not put anything in for storm water so now it’s got to be dug up again,” he said.

“This whole inconvenience we have had, which we have all put up with, but let’s get some benefits out of it as well.”

Mills said he had been in correspondence with three separate state government ministers but only received one response. It did not answer his question.

As part of the Heaslip Road work, SA Water undertook temporary trench reinstatement where the road had been dug up.

An email exchange between SA Water and Cr Marsh, seen by The Bunyip, said the contractor, Fulton and Hogan, and SA Water’s construction services team had been advised that the trench work on Heaslip Road “is satisfactory as a temporary measure of reinstatement”.

The email advised that permanent reinstatement was booked to take place last Sunday.
