IN the much anticipated top-of-the-table clash, league-leaders Angaston made a mess of visiting Tanunda in Barossa and Light division one bowls action, running away 126-75 winners to extend its unbeaten start to 11 matches.

The home side won all four rinks, highlighted by 24 and 20 point wins from the crews of Liam Buckley and Matthew Jones, respectively, to blow out the margin.

Lyndoch remains in the top-four after a 102-85 win at home against the wooden-spoon favourite Kapunda.

Despite the relatively close score-line, the visitors were unable to take a rink, losing all four by margins of one, three, five and eight as the struggling side failed to convert on its opportunities.

Nuriootpa also swept all four rinks on its trip to Eudunda to remain safely in third-spot on the ladder, coming out of its match with a 126-77 mauling.

The home side’s four led by Malcolm Schutz came the closest with a 22-26 rink loss to Jim Barr’s squad, before the other three frames were decided by double figure margins.

In division 2a, Tanunda grabbed a share of first-place after knocking off fellow top-four side Freeling in a tough road win.

Warwick Ledsham’s 30-20 rink win put the home side in a strong position, but the class of the visitors shone through as the fours led by David Armstrong and Neil Jaensch poured on the shots to  in 27-16 and 28-14 respectively.

Eudunda remains on the bottom of the ladder after failing to get a result in its trip to Kapunda, falling 62-79.

Ron Hams won a gritty 26-25 rink for the visitors, but that advantage was wiped off the board by Bob Booth’s four netting a 22-21 to set the table for Jack Trotta to storm home with a 32-15 frame to settle the match.

Nuriootpa defended its home green against Lyndoch to create a two-game buffer between itself and fifth place, leaving it in a strong position for the run home.

Peter Buckley’s crew dominated its rink 35-10 to set a massive task for the visitors which they could not answer, despite taking one frame, eventually losing the fixture 57-84.
