All-Stars set to carry lessons into BL&GW season

SUNDAY saw the last meeting in the fourgame
series between the Barossa Light &
Gawler All-Stars and Central District Football
Club’s reserves, with the women playing
longer quarters at Blakeview in their last
chance to impress the SANFL club.
While the Bulldogs controlled the field-position
battle with superior swarming intent,
Dakota Williams and Jessie Sandford set the
tone for the All-Stars with strong tackling and
terrific work inside the contest.
Willaston premiership player Shari Chambers
was resolute in defence for the Bulldogs,
while Angle Vale’s Zoe Perry showed electric
pace breaking off of half-back as she went on
marauding runs down the wings.
The All-Stars improved every game, but so
did the Bulldogs, who showed a great understanding
of structured defending and consistently
demonstrated elite running capacity by
outnumbering the locals at the fall of the ball.
The All-Stars will now return to their home
clubs to prepare for the BL&GW season,
which will be the longest women’s season in
competition history with 12-rounds plus finals.
