A PERFECT SCORE
1 min read

FIVE starts over the 400m trip at the Gawler track has yielded promising greyhound Black Kruger a perfect record of five wins for Paul Bodsworth of Rhynie in the Clare Valley.
Running in the Free-For-All event, Black Kruger was away well from box-eight to sweep across the field and open up an early race winning gap of four lengths.
Stir Crazy (box-two) was away with his customary slow start, but was able to settle into second place.
Despite Stir Crazy making every effort, he was unable to make up any ground on Black Kruger, who was travelling along nicely in the lead to cross the line nearly four lengths ahead of the dog trained by Mike Wittholz of Lewiston.
Black Kruger ran an impressive personal best time of 22.56 secs for Bodworth, who trains the black and white dog for owner Bronwyn Welsh of Mildura.
The dog has been in Bodsworth’s care for all the starts at Gawler, after a previous stint in Victoria, with victories at Warrnambool and Ballarat.
Although Black Kruger seems to have a liking for the 400m journey at Gawler, Bodsworth will now give him a look at the Murray Bridge track.
The plan is to see if he can run a strong 400m race there, before deciding if he will then contest the 500m distance at Angle Park.
Black Kruger has an impressive record of ten wins and four placings from just 20 starts, and is a littermate of the promising Golden Kruger, who has won seven races from 15 starts.
Bodsworth only has a small team of racing greyhounds, so he is enjoying this success with the pair of “Krugers”, as well as the rearing aspect of greyhounds, and with over 35 years in the sport, he still loves it.
