2023 fix for Fradd Road
1 min read

ANGLE Vale residents will have to wait until at least 2023 to see a major upgrade of Fradd Road get underway.
A report tabled at Playford Council’s Services Committee meeting last night showed a long-awaited revamp of a 900m stretch of the road, alongside the Angle Vale Sporting Complex, was not scheduled to start until the 2023/24 financial year.
The $950,000 upgrade is set to include new kerbing and footpaths, a bike line and a possible lighting upgrade.
A number of Playford councillors also want to advocate for indented parking bays along the road to help quell parking problems during training and match days at the sporting complex.
The report stated $96,000 in funding is scheduled to be released in the 2022/23 financial year for a design study for the project.
“The inclusions and exclusions listed above did not contemplate road widening to accommodate indented parking bays or on-street parking, nor have funds been collected by the Angle Vale Road Deed fund for that purpose,” the report read.
“However, as the design and construction costs are split across separate financial years, any scope changes that require additional construction funding from council could be considered prior to allocation of council’s 25 per cent construction contribution once the design component is
completed.”
The road’s future upgrade is outlined in the Angle Vale Growth Deed, an agreement between housing development owners, the council and the State Government.
It provides a schedule for infrastructure upgrades in the Angle Vale growth areas, priotirised in order of community need and how much each party must contribute to the project.
For the Fradd Road revamp, developer contributions paid to DIT would account for 75 per cent of the cost, while council will cover the remaing 25 per cent.
At the meeting last night, elected members were set to discuss bringing forward the $96,000 planning stage, which would need to be footed by council, but then could be charged against its expected 25 per cent contribution.
